Stefanie ("Stef") Tovar

Intern Extraordinare and Event Coordinator

  • Tell us, when did your mind-body first bend or move you to it's will?  Hmm….when I started learning the discipline of dance in Boarding School…I believe that’s when my love and obsession with movement began. ;-)    I am a performer by trade.  So, that being said, dance and movement were integral parts of my life.  I went to my first yoga class in Boston with a crazy cool dancer chic from an African Dance and Hip Hop Company I performed with I
  • Besides your obvious coolness, what makes you so qualified to teach?  My eagerness and perkiness regarding movement. I am the scholarship recipient for Blue Anjou’s first Teacher Training so I am very excited to learn more and deepen my love for yoga. I love helping people unlock their potential and join me in the discovery and love of how wonderful our bodies can move. I’m also a professional bubble blower (not really, but I like to think so) and I have oodles of energy.  yoga chills me out, man! 
  • What other things are you qualified to do?  Hmm ... Various forms of dancing, singing, acting. I can give really good hugs, blow bubbles (notice the trend here ;-) ) and be really really silly if I need to 
  • What can we expect to see, hear and do in your classes? Smile, giggle, be honest, maybe cry, definitely explore the wonders of movement! And most importantly BREATHE!
  • What pose/move do you dig the most and why?  Child’s pose because it helps me stay connected with my breath, which then always connects me to myself. Simplicity is key
  • If you could push a button and remove a pose/move from history, which one and why?  Ooohh ... umnnn, I don’t know.  That one’s hard  (ed. no it's not.  The answer is Eagle).  I guess wheel because many people get their egos involved in that pose, but at times it can certainly make me feel like a wee little one…which makes me happy!  (ed. hold on, to "wee" a little one ... I think we've been very clear on our policy regarding pee'ing on the studio floor).
  • Like, what's your sign man?  Leo, Dude!
  • What are 3 things that make you smile real big and cheesy?
    Ohhh…little kiddles!
    My niece Kacie!
A big Bottle of Bubbles! Woohoo!
  • What is your favorite quote when you're in need of a little inspiration?  Greatness is not a matter of circumstance, it is a matter of choice.
  • If you could do anything to change the world, what would it be?  Empower people to listen to their intuition rather than their mind.
  • Any other interesting information you would like to share with the nice people reading this here Bio?  Here is one of my favorite Mary Olive quote. If you are reading this, then it is a verification that you belong. Come and join our community because:
You do not have to be good
You do not have to walk on your miles
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body,
    love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
    Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
    Are moving across the landscapes,
Over the prairies and the deep trees,
    The mountains and the rivers
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue aire are heading home again.
Whoever you are,no matter how lonely,
The world offers itself to your imagination
Calls to you like wild geese, harsh and exciting
Over and over announcing your place,
    In the family of things.
    Mary Oliver-“wild geese”

Come and join our family of things  You are loved!
