RYT 200 Yoga Teacher

  • Tell us, when did mind-body first bend you to it's will besides your obvious coolness, what makes you qualified to teach? I first started doing yoga in the ARMY. The physical program the military has is very hard on the body and I needed a way to work out the tension created by the daily PT sessions. Years later I was in car wreck and crawled around my house for three months. Determined to not be a victim of my injuries, I had a yoga teacher, massage therapist and a chiropractor work with me three times a week and after a month or two I was able to go back to work and got my freedom back. Since then I have devoted my life to the service of others and healing them in the ways I know how, by listening and teaching people to listen to their bodies. The body is just the physical part of an individual and I try to reach the individual on many other levels, including mental and spiritual.
    • Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance
    • Certified by Yoga Fit and Purple Lotus
    • My favorite classes are Beginner Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Postnatal Mommy and Me Yoga, Seniors Yoga and Yoga Therapy.
  • What other things are you qualified to do (besides train dolphins ... we're all qualified to do that)? I hold an Associates Degrees in Science, Philosophy and Aviation Maintenance Technology, and speak three languages, four if you include Hillbilly!
  • What can we expect to see, hear and do in your classes?  I do believe I was a comic in a past life, so you will see laughing, hear laughing, feel laughing and participate in laughing as we move in and out of postures. I like to keep it fun, safe and free. Sometimes we break into free form dance or Tai Chi. I do my best to connect with everyone in the room on a personal level, usually through some kind of massage at the end of class! (Do I have your attention now?
  • What pose/move do you dig the most and why? Dandayamana Dhanurasana, Standing Bow Pose. When I do this I feel free, like I can be shot off into space live the existence of stardust!
  • If you could push a button and remove a pose/move from history, which one and why? Handstand, I have an old shoulder injury I'm mindful of.

  • What are 3 things that make you smile real big and cheesy? (ed. no fart jokes) Kids, Pets, and Cameras!
  • What is your favorite quote when you're in need of a little inspiration? If you judge people, you have no time to love them. ~ Mother Teresa
  • If you could do anything to change the world, what would it be? Teach people to fish, to get them back to nature.
  • Any other interesting information you would like to share with the nice people reading this here Bio? I love to fish, because I'm better at it than my dad! I practice Tai Chi, play the flute, garden (you kill it, I can revive it!) ride motorcycles and occasionally, ok daily, enjoy a hazelnut cappuccino. I love to read, mostly yoga and philosophy stuff and spend some time everyday feeding birds, cats, coons, whatever comes over for dinner!
