Topics Covered
Techniques
- Asana - Learn how the asanas are built from the ground up and you will be confident teaching the beginner as well as the seasoned practitioner. Contraindications concerning special populations will be emphasized and safety first will be stressed greatly. *We will commit an entire Module to special populations such as Children, Pre and Postnatal Women, Common Injuries, beginners & Yoga for the woman’s body, all of which we come across in today’s group yoga classes.
- Pranayama - You will be taught the many pranayamas and the effect they each have on the body and their contraindications as well.
- Asana, mantra, mudras, pranayama, and meditation will be practiced each meeting. *We will have a 40 Day Personal Practice and Meditation challenge. You will meditate for 5-10 minutes each day, adding a 20-30 minute asana practice and record your experience. The idea is to get you into the habit of meditating daily & cultivating a personal practice which is important as a yoga teacher.

Anatomy & Physiology
- The Physical Body - “Western Anatomy & Physiology” You will come to understand healthy movement patterns, benefits, and contraindications of the asanas through the study of various bodily systems.
- The Energy Body - “Eastern Anatomy & Physiology” We will explore the energy body including the Nadis, Marmas, Chakras, etc.
Philosophy, Ethics, & Lifestyle
- History of Yoga
- Yoga Lifestyle including: diet, cleansing, practicing, living the 8 Limbs
- Ethics of Teaching Yoga, the student/teacher relationship
- Sages, Sutras, Vedas, Upanishads, & The Bhagavadgita
Practicum
- 5 Hours Assisting in our classes/ 5 Hours Teaching outside classes (5 Non-contact Hours and 5 Contact Hours) (Feedback forms for your students will be provided and will be turned in to us)
- 70+ Bonus Hours in Reading and Assignments (Topics chosen will be distributed between Techniques, Teaching methodology, Anatomy and Physiology, Philosophy, Ethics, and Lifestyle.)

Format & Requirements
- This 200-hour training is from January, 2009 - October, 2009.
- Self-Study, group projects and workshops will be conducted outside of scheduled hours and can be arranged according to your own personal schedule.
- Attendance at all scheduled trainings and a passing grade on the final exam is required for graduation.
- The Teacher Training Application and interview with the Director must be completed to be considered for acceptance and participation in the program.
Blue Anjou Yoga Certification
After completing this 200-hour training, you will receive a
certificate making you eligible to register for national certification with the
Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of the coursework, and depending on your own
practice, you will be prepared to teach beginner to advanced classes.
2009 Teacher Training Dates
Note: Schedule is subject to change (ed. but it's been very consistent this year)
Meeting Times: In general, we will meet Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00-8:00p at the Blue Anjou Studio in Lewisville, TX. The retreats run Friday-Sunday at an off-site location. A summer make-up retreat will be offered should you miss any training dates for an additional $350 (not included in tuition).
